According to a recent article in the San Antonio Express, military suicides were at a record high in 2015, 516 in total across all branches. Army suicides make up two-thirds of all with a total of 325 in 2012. With these numbers coming in at such high rates, the military is going to begin more actively increasing their outreach programs to lessen the stigma associated with getting help for issues related to PTSD, as soldiers are less likely to report issues for fear of looking weak. Accroding to a February 2 article on CNN.com, the Army has already expanded their Strong Bonds program, a family bonds program to help strengthen familial relationships, and devised other programs to raise suicide awareness.
